Government Reaffirms Commitment to Fair Crop Prices as Shivraj Singh Chouhan Addresses MSP Concerns in Rajya Sabha

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during Question Hour in the Rajya Sabha, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring timely and fair MSP availability for farmers. He detailed ongoing measures to strengthen procurement systems and safeguard farmer incomes, underscoring MSP’s central role in agricultural policy.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday addressed questions in the Rajya Sabha over the availability and timely assurance of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, underscoring the Centre’s continued efforts to safeguard growers’ income amid evolving agricultural challenges.

Responding during Question Hour, Chouhan emphasized that the government is “consistently working” to ensure farmers receive fair and assured prices for their produce. He noted that a range of measures is in place to strengthen procurement systems, streamline MSP access, and improve transparency in the mechanisms that determine price support.

Chouhan clarified that the MSP framework remains a critical pillar of the government’s agricultural policy and that continuous adjustments are made to enhance efficiency and reach. He reiterated that guaranteeing timely availability of MSP is a priority, with administrative steps being taken to maintain smooth procurement operations and expand support where needed.

The minister’s remarks come at a time when MSP-related discussions remain central to national agricultural discourse. His assurance to the House signals the government’s intent to reinforce confidence among farmers, while also highlighting ongoing efforts to stabilize agricultural markets and strengthen support mechanisms for India’s agrarian economy.
